King - Duncan
Mary Cheatham Duncan and Walter Winburne King IV were married on Saturday, November 30, 2002, at five o'clock in the evening at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro. The Reverend Timothy Jay Patterson officiated. A reception followed at Greensboro Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Calton Duncan of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sam Leon Foushee of Greenville, South Carolina, and the late Mr. Foushee, and of Mrs. Fitzhugh Durham Duncan of Greenville, North Carolina, and the late Mr. Duncan. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Winburne King III of Franklinville, North Carolina. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Crutchfield, and of Mrs. Walter Winburne King Jr. of Greensboro and the late Mr. King. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Catherine Grace Duncan of Greensboro was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Madeleine Elizabeth Berry of Atlanta; Miss Linda Leigh Brantley of New York, New York; Miss Allison Britt Carr of Charlotte; Mrs. Jody King Cheek of Elizabeth City, sister of the groom; Miss Mary Holt Ellis and Miss Mary Elizabeth Harrington of Washington, D.C.; Miss Sarah Elizabeth Mansfield of Raleigh; Miss Margaret Caroline Rowell of Charleston, South Carolina; Miss Emily Marshall Salatich of Bloomington, Indiana; and Miss Mabel Hall Trask of Wilmington. Miss Elizabeth Arden Harris of Charlotte, and Miss Barbara Meriwether Maddux and Miss Anna Ramsey Rives of Atlanta were greeters. The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Francis Cooper Brantley Jr., Mr. Jorman Wade Fields Jr., Mr. George Dailey Revington V, and Mr. Dodson Ramseur Schenck Jr. of Greensboro, Mr. Nicholas Christiansen Brown of New York, New York, Mr. Clayton Williams Cheek of Elizabeth City, Mr. David Clinton Corn Jr. of Raleigh, Mr. Freeman Randolph Jackson Jr. of Chapel Hill, Mr. Owen Thomas Phillips III of Charlotte, and Mr. William Walton Rixey III of Morehead City. Ushers were Mr. Michael Hannibal Godwin III of Charlotte, Mr. Howard Austen Holderness of New York, New York, and Mr. Brantley Edwards White of Greensboro. Mr. Charles Yates King Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Miss Claudia Marie Tyler of Greensboro were lectors. On Friday evening the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Greensboro Country Club. The bride graduated with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro and the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh. The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is employed by 70 West Marina, LLC in Morehead City. Following a wedding trip to the British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Morehead City.
