McLean - Moore

Mary Elizabeth Moore of Stoneville and Dalton Singletary McLean of Chapel Hill were united in marriage Saturday, October 12, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Madison. The Right Reverend Graham Henry Rights and the Reverend John Graham Rights officiated the two o'clock in the afternoon ceremony. The bride's parents hosted an outdoor wedding reception at The Penn House in Reidsville. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Donald Wilson Moore of Stoneville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ottis Rutley Barham Sr. of Mayodan and the late Mr. Ottis Rutley Barham Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leland Raine Moore Sr. of Madison. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Sartor McLean of Lumberton. He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. William Vance Singletary of Durham, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dickson McLean of Lumberton. The bride chose her sister, Miss Lindsay Barham Moore of Davidson, as her maid of honor. Other bridesmaids included sister of the bride, Miss Emily Wilson Moore of Davidson; sister of the groom, Miss Katherine Brandon McLean of San Francisco; Miss Anne Catherine Payne of Clayton; Miss Jennifer Lee Williams and Mrs. Elizabeth Reid Willingham of Winston-Salem; Miss Ashley Lynn Wagner of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Miss Rebecca Jane Niemitz of Carrboro; and Mrs. Heather Wall Hannequin of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Cousins of the groom, Miss Savannah Marie Singletary and Miss Stephanie Elizabeth Singletary of Raleigh, were flower girls. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Other groomsmen included Mr. John Thomas Singletary of Durham; Mr. William Burton Bradshaw III of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Mr. Nicholas von Seth Carpenter of Lafayette, Louisiana; Mr. Dewey Nelson Ervin Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; Mr. James Edward Harris Jr. of Memphis; Mr. Arun Krishnaraj of Carrboro; Mr. Robert Anthony Lonergan II of Philadelphia; and Mr. James Donald McLeod Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky. Cousin of the bride, Mrs. Carla Roberts McCauley of Fayetteville, directed the wedding. Cousin of the bride, Miss Jolie Nicol Barham of Davidson, served as the guest registrar. Program attendants were cousins of the bride, Miss Caroline Frances Barham and Miss Sarah Lillian Barham of Culpeper, Virginia. Organist Mrs. Kathy Sell and trumpeters Miss Anne Tuttle and Mr. Forest Overton Tate III provided wedding music. Ms. Julie Hammarback played the harp and Mr. John Hammarback played the oboe and bagpipes. The bride graduated from McMichael High School, received a Bachelor's degree in History from Davidson College, and a Master's degree in Public History and Museum Studies from North Carolina State University. She was presented at the North Carolina Terpsichorean Ball in 1997. The bridegroom graduated from Lumberton High School, received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Davidson College, and is currently enrolled as a fourth year medical student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following their return from a wedding trip to Portugal and Spain, the couple will reside in Chapel Hill.
