Monk - Perry
Laura Freeman Perry and Albert Coy Monk IV were married October 26, 2002, in Windsor. The Reverend Barbara B. Chaffee officiated the ceremony at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. A reception followed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Freeman Perry Jr. in Colerain. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Terrell Pressley of Charlotte, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Freeman Perry Jr. of Colerain. She is the granddaughter of Clara Willis Cannady of Raleigh and the late John Albert Cannady of Powellsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Freeman Perry of Colerain. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coy Monk III of Farmville. He is the grandson of Albert Coy Monk Jr. of Farmville and the late Keel Lang Monk, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Frank Miller Atkins of Atlanta. Zelle Braswell Reams of New York served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were sister of the groom, Tracy Gray Monk, Emily Elizabeth Jordan, and Elizabeth Parker Stutts of Atlanta; cousin of the bride, Mary Scott Perry of Edenton; Lyl MacLean Clinard of Winston-Salem; and Kathryn Eileen Forest, Sara Catherine James, and Sara Marshall Trotter of New York. Goddaughter of the groom, Miss Katharine Holland Edmonds of New York, served as flower girl. The groom chose his father to be his best man. Groomsmen were brothers of the bride, Colin Castellow Perry of Raleigh Norman Freeman Perry III of Colerain, and John Lindsay Hallett of Arlington, Virginia; cousins of the groom, Robert Turnage Monk III of Raleigh and William Cabot Monk Jr. of Greenville; Harley Shuford Garrison of Asheville; Sellers Luther Crisp Jr. of Atlanta; Douglas Arthur Vaughn of Chapel Hill; Edmund Nelson Durden and Walker Chapman Simmons of Charlotte; Scott Lincoln Gwilliam of Evanston, Illinois; Christian Grant Schnabel of Lexington, Kentucky; Stephen Ward Kurad of Mill Valley, California; Moylan Field Gomila of New Orleans; and David French Apple III, Richard Milton Bange, Franklin Spicer Edmonds Jr., John Rice Edmonds, John Scott Sinclair, Stephen Hayes Smith, and Thomas Hutton Wood Jr. of New York. Laura graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh in 1995 and is presently employed with G. George & Company in Charlotte. Coy graduated from Woodberry Forest School, the University of Virginia, and the Fuqua School at Duke University. He is employed with Myers Limited Partnerships of Charlotte. After a honeymoon in Mexico, the couple will make their home in Charlotte.
