(Obituary of Bob Floyd: "Bob Burton Floyd- CHAPEL HILL, NC -- Bob Burton Floyd, 89, passed away in his home on May 12, 2016 in Chapel Hill. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years, Juanita Spivey Floyd; sisters, Anita Watts and Betty Jo Hulin; sons, Bob Burton Floyd, II (Angela), Walter Mac Floyd (Cindy Schauer), and Timothy Wayne Floyd (Lisa); grandchildren, Mac Floyd, Chris Floyd, Daniel Floyd, Melissa Pate, Tyler Floyd, Alex Haikonen; and great granddaughter, Elle Floyd.He was born and raised in Barnesville, North Carolina, the son of Mac French and Ludie Floyd, and one of thirteen children. He and Juanita raised their family in Chapel Hill and then resided for many years in Lake View, South Carolina before returning to Chapel Hill. In his early years, Bob served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and the Korean War. Later, he was employed at UNC as Supervisor in the HVAC Shop until retirement.Bob was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church. He also logged many miles traveling to see his beloved Tarheels. He was an avid gardener and jack-of-all-trades. He will be missed by all that knew him and enjoyed his spirited but kind personality.A funeral service will be Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 4 pm at Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Lake View SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 14,, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.
