Wilson - Wilkins

Elise Perryman Wilkins and Joel Andrew Wilson of Wilmington were married October 12, 2002, at six o'clock in the evening at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. The Reverend Doctor Ernest Trice Thompson III officiated the double ring ceremony. A reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held at the Cape Fear Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lucien Sanders Wilkins of Wilmington. She is the granddaughter of Dr. William Rufus Hartness of Sanford and the late Mrs. Hartness, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Betts Wilkins of Sanford. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Abner Williams Sr. of Wilmington and the late Major (retired) Thomas Calvin Wilson. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Ellis Gulledge Sr. of Raeford, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Christopher Wilson of Hertford. Ina Herrin Ausborn of Raleigh served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were cousin of the bride, Tara Kathyrn Hartness of Greenville, South Carolina; Laura Stuart King and Patti Harris Mordecai of Raleigh; and Jill Elizabeth Ferrell, Natalie Bennett Jackson, Fredrika Becker Miller, and Laura Moser Nilsen of Wilmington. Niece of the groom, Anna Elisabeth DeWitt of Wilmington, served as flower girl. Joseph Abner Williams Sr. served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were brother of the bride, Lucien Sanders Wilkins Jr. of Fuquay-Varina; brother of the groom, Thomas Calvin Wilson Jr. of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law of the groom, Alan Keith DeWitt, Charles Douglas Cameron, Gene Worth Jones Jr., and Joshua Barney Vach of Wilmington; brother of the groom, Joseph Abner Williams Jr. of Chicago; and Robert James Lahnstein Jr. of Seattle, Washington. Nephew of the groom, Samuel Christian DeWitt of Wilmington, served as ring bearer. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum. The bride graduated from North Carolina State University. She is a financial advisor and has been employed with Merrill Lynch for the past five years. She was presented by the Sanford Cotillion Club and by the Terpsichorean Club at the North Carolina Debutante Ball. The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is a project consultant with R.V. Buric Construction Consultants. After a honeymoon trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple will live in Wilmington.
