Pamela Jean Kasch of Raleigh and Christopher Shannon Smith of Wendell were married October 5, 2002, at three o'clock in the afternoon at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Father Dan Kenna officiated. A reception was held at The Velvet Cloak Inn in Raleigh. The bride is the daughter of Nella Kasch of Raleigh and the late Robert Kasch. Parents of the groom are Robert and Gabriella Gulley of Wendell. Sister of the bride, Jennifer Kasch of Bear, Delaware, served as maid of honor. Sister of the bride, Rebecca Sterling of Hampton, Virginia, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were college friends, Sara Ahl of Burke, Virginia, and Moya Toohey of Reston, Virginia. The niece of the groom, Maria Juarez of Wendell served as flower girl. High school friend, Jeffrey Fox of Wendell, served as best man. Groomsmen were brother of the groom, Douglas Campbell of Zebulon; and friends of the groom, Kevin Cooper and Tracy Vaughan of Wendell. Nephew of the bride, Tyler Sterling of Hampton, Virginia, served as ring bearer. The bride graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. She is a fifth grade teacher with The Franciscan School. The groom is a volunteer with the Wendell Fire Department and a firefighter with The City of Raleigh. After a honeymoon cruise to Mexico, the couple will reside in Wendell.
