The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Richard Smutney of Greensboro.
She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Junius Albert Sapp of Raleigh, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Joseph Smutney of Kinston.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. H. Michael Hunter of Charlotte, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Dennis Gardner of Duncan, South Carolina.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Abbott Bunch of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Christine Gardner Pate of Pikeville and the late Mr. Guy Monroe Gardner.
The bride is currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Curriculum in Toxicology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The groom is an attorney with Tharrington Smith LLP in Raleigh.
After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Durham.
