Elizabeth Ann Shields and Charles Christopher Austin, both of Raleigh, were married September 28, 2002 at four-thirty in the afternoon at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Reverend Bill Simpson officiated the ceremony.
A reception followed at the River Run Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rick A. Shields of Cornelius.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Austin of Charleston, West Virginia.
Ashley Wilder, sister of the bride, and Deborah Martin, friend of the bride, served as matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Ana Brady, Kristin Campbell, Stacey Hinnant, Amanda Page, and Hannah Parrish. Hannah Wilder, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. Eric Banas, friend of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Eric Austin, Bryan Dent, James Moss, Brian Phillips, John Ramsperger, and Matthew Underwood. Caroline Lytle and Clyda Pasquantonio served as guest book registrars. Melissa Shaheen was the soloist.
The bride is a graduate of Meredith College.
She is employed with Misys Healthcare Systems.
The groom is a graduate of Elon College.
He is employed with Principal Financial Group.
After a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
