Collins - Yates

Macon Ferguson Yates and Charles Daniel Collins of Charlotte were married September 28, 2002, at five-thirty in the evening at Boone United Methodist Church. Uncle of the bride, The Reverend Doctor John William Yates II, and The Reverend Kenneth Bryan Sexton Sr. officiated the double-ring ceremony. After the wedding, a reception was held at the Blowing Rock Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Tucker Yates of Blowing Rock. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Burder Shuford of Hickory, and Mrs. Sue Tucker Yates of Raleigh and the late Francis Ogburn Yates. Mr. and Mrs. Yates were formerly of Asheboro. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Roger Eugene Collins of Raleigh. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marvin Evans of Wallace, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gwyn Collins of Sparta. Sister of the bride, Mrs. Sue Yates Hiller of Charlotte, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were sister-in-law of the groom, Mrs. Leslie Belsha Collins of Roanoke, Virginia; Mrs. Amy Lankford Henderson and Miss Jennifer Marie Sharpe of Greenville, South Carolina; Miss Teresa Michelle Moore and Miss Kelly Lynn Thompson of Charlotte; and Mrs. Catherine Edwards Sanders of Arlington, Virginia. Nieces of the bride, Miss Virginia Shuford Nelson of Winston-Salem, and Miss Margaret Ann Yates of Atlanta, Georgia, were flower girls. Mr. Roger Eugene Collins served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mr. David Edwin Boyce of Raleigh; Mr. Michael Allen Boyce of Fullerton, California; brother of the groom, Dr. Roger Stewart Collins of Roanoke, Virginia; Mr. Christopher Kyle Hogue of Holly Springs; and brothers of the bride, Mr. Scott Tucker Yates Jr. of Atlanta, and Mr. William Shuford Yates of Greeneville, Tennessee. Nephew of the groom, Connor Forrest Collins of Roanoke, Virginia, and nephew of the bride, William Scott Hiller of Charlotte served as ring bearers. The bride graduated from Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, Virginia, and the University of Virginia. She is the director of programs for Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas. The groom graduated from Wake Christian Academy in Raleigh, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and The University of North Carolina School of Law. He is an attorney for Templeton and Raynor. After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Charlotte.
