Johnson - Martin

Amy Virginia Martin and Mark William Johnson, both of Chapel Hill, were married July 20, 2002 at Deerpark on Biltmore Estate in Asheville. Jennifer Wixson, cousin of the groom, officiated at the ceremony.

A reception followed at Deerpark on Biltmore Estate.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hatcher Martin of Matthews.

She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Marian Cole Belk of Hickory, Mr. Frank Raymond Hancock Jr. of Asheville, and the late Mrs. Helen Hatcher Martin of Charlotte.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce Johnson of Chapel Hill.

He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Winona Palmer of Norway, Maine, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson of Milton, Massachusetts.

Ms. Emily Marie Ray, cousin of the bride, of Vienna, West Virginia served as maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ms. Ashley Elizabeth Garner and Ms. Jenna Leigh Moore, both of Matthews. Madison Lyn Moore and Lacey Elayne Moore, both of Matthews, served as flower girls.

Mr. Kurt Robert Johnson, brother of the groom, of Peachtree City, Georgia served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Joshua Hatcher Martin of Matthews and Mr. Graham Patrick Donlon of Viroflay, France.

The bride is Director of Communications at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Surgery.

The groom is an Assistant Professor and Director of Liver Transplantation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Surgery.

After a honeymoon trip to the British Virgin Islands, the couple will live in Chapel Hill.
