Mr. and Mrs. Reiber wed 50 years

WOODSTOWN — William and Barbara Reiber of Woodstown, formerly of Sparta, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple took a two-week cruise to Alaska, which was followed by a private family celebration hosted by their children and their families, Peggy of Andover; Elizabeth and Glenn Macierowski and their two children, of Sparta; and Wendy and Dan Moss and their son, Jason, also of Sparta.
William Reiber and Barbara Grossmann were married Aug. 18, 1956, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield. The couple lived in Sparta for 23 years while Mr. Grossman worked for PSE&G.; He was relocated to South Jersey and later retired after 35 years with the company.
Both have been active in their local churches. While in Sparta, Mr. Grossman held multiple posts, including elder and deacon, of the Sparta Presbyterian Church. He also assisted with vehicle maintenance for the Sparta Ambulance Service. He has served on the Woodstown Planning Board for 18 years and served one term on the Salem County Attorneys' Ethics Review Board. He was involved in an after-school tutoring program and serves on the board of trustees for the town library association and the Woodstown Presbyterian Church. He is a member of and a Paul Harris fellow with the Woodstown Rotary Club, serving as treasurer and past president, among other positions.
Mrs. Grossman spent the early years of their marriage raising their three children. For more than 10 years she was a volunteer EMT with the Sparta Ambulance Service, for which she was honored in 1983 as Sparta's citizen of the month. She was also a volunteer CPR instructor for the American Heart Association. Upon their relocation to South Jersey, she completed her associate degree in liberal arts and obtained her graphic arts certification from Gloucester County College. A published artist, she remains active with her local woman's club. She is a past president and is now vice president of the Garden District Woman's Club. At the state level, she has just completed a two-year term as the NJSFWC Creative Department chairman. She has been a substitute teacher in the Woodstown area school district.
