Vaughns mark 50th anniversary

SPARTA — The Mohawk House was the setting for a surprise party celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of Wayne W. and Kay Vaughn of Vernon.
The dinner party for family and friends was given by the Vaughns' only daughter, Ronni Lapp, her fiancé, Barry Auberger, and their two grandchildren, Megan and Robbie Lapp, of Vernon.
The anniversary couple were both born in Warwick, N.Y., where they were high school sweethearts.
They married Aug. 12, 1956, and moved to Vernon 48 years ago.
The couple have worked side-by-side for 35 years in their excavation business.
They have raised, trained and shown Arabian and cross-bred ponies for many years and have both been on the Sussex County Horse Show committee for 28 years.
They are avid golfers.
