The Spurriers

Kass and Ed Spurrier of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997.

The open house was hosted by their three children and their spouses, Lynne and Terry Kirby of Myersville, Md., Vicki and Steve Spurrier of Williamsport and Anne and Tim Spurrier of Plano, Texas.

The celebration was at the home of Vicki and Steve Spurrier.

The guest list included family and friends.

Several members of the original wedding party attended.

The Spurriers were married at St. Edward's Church in Baltimore Sept. 20, 1947.

They have four grandchildren.

(Obituary of Joseph "Ed" Spurrier: "Joseph E. "Ed" Spurrier, 80, of 10612 Oak Tree Circle in Williamsport, Md., died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md. He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Stewartstown, Pa., in York County to the late Edward Joseph and Ferne Jenkins Davis Spurrier. He attended Mount St. Joseph School in Baltimore. Ed was employed by C&P Telephone for 38 years as an accounts manager, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Ed was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. In his younger years, he was a gardener and enjoyed golf and photography. He was a member of St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport. He was the former vice president of the church council. Ed was a volunteer coordinator with the Mason Dixon Council BSA of Hagerstown and United Way of Washington County. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Potomac American Legion Post 202 of Williamsport.")
