Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Schroyer of Greencastle, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at The Orchards Restaurant in Chambersburg, Pa.
The dinner was hosted by their children, Carol Lowe of Smithsburg, Michael Schroyer of Greencastle, Beverly Schroyer and John Schroyer of Waynesboro, Pa., and Timothy Schroyer of Hagerstown.
The Schroyers were married Oct. 6, 1947, in Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Schroyer is a homemaker.
Mr. Schroyer is a retired truck driver.
They have five grandchildren.

(Obituary of Carl Schroyer: "Carl W. Schroyer, 85, who resided with his granddaughter in Falling Waters, West Virginia, and formerly of Hill Road, Greencastle, PA, died at 7:30 AM Sunday, December 28, 2014, in the Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Born March 11, 1929, in Clay Run, Fayette County, PA, he was the son of the late William D. and Grace (Augustine) Shroyer. He married Dorothy Jean (Channing) Schroyer on October 6, 1947, in Cumberland, MD. She died on August 24, 2009. Carl was a lifelong truck driver, having worked last for Ryder-Pie Trucking of Hagerstown. He had driven over three million miles without an accident. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union of Hagerstown. Surviving family are three daughters, Carol Lowe and husband Charles of Smithsburg, MD, Beverly Meadows and husband Gary of Waynesboro, PA, Missy Hewitt and husband Joe of Falling Waters, WV; three sons, Michael D. Schroyer of Greencastle, John Schroyer and wife Robin of Waynesboro, PA, Tim Schroyer of Carlisle, PA; five grandchildren, Andrea Stoey and husband John, Adam Schroyer, Ryan Schroyer, Kelsey Mellott, Becca Schroyer; four great-grandchildren, Laken Schroyer, Isabelle Stoey, Will Stoey, Cole Lowe; three brothers,, Gilbert Shroyer, Floyd Shroyer both of Connellsville, PA, and Richard Shroyer of Somerset, PA; four sisters, Ruth Christman, Esther Powell, Mardell Powell and Donna Harmon, all of Connellsville, PA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Shroyer, Jr., Gerald Shroyer, Robert Shroyer; and two sisters, Marlene Lint and Jessie Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2 at 1:00 PM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with his wife's nephew, David Channing officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Wintersville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mary (Daley) Channing of Waynesboro, Pa., and the late Lester Channing. She and her husband, Carl W. Schroyer, were married Oct. 6, 1947, in Cumberland, Md. Dorothy was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Homemakers and was an active member of the Greencastle Senior Center. She enjoyed flower gardening and being with her grandchildren, and was an avid G-A Blue Devils fan. Surviving family, in addition to her mother and husband, are three daughters, Carol (husband Charles) Lowe of Smithsburg, Md., Beverly (husband Gary) Meadows of Waynesboro, and Missy (husband Joe) Hewitt of Falling Waters W.Va.; three sons, Michael D. Schroyer of Greencastle, John (wife Robin) Schroyer of Waynesboro, and Tim Schroyer of Carlisle, Pa.; five grandchildren, Andrea, Adam, Ryan, Kelsey and Becca; three brothers, Glenn, Charles and Richard Channing; and five sisters, Delores Richardson, Marjorie Rugg, Janice Miller, Sandra Edelman and Donna Moatz.
