The Moatzes
Lorraine and Melvin Moatz of Pen Mar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, at the home of their grandson and his wife, Allen Harmon Jr. and Peggy Harmon.
The celebration was hosted by the couple's children, Melvina Harmon of Hagerstown, Gregory Moatz of Waynesboro, Pa., Darlene Kipe of Hagerstown, Gordon Moatz Sr. of Highfield, Stephen Moatz of Waynesboro, Krista Haugh of Hagerstown and Karla Rowe of Funkstown and their spouses.
The Moatzes also have a daughter in Texas, Pamela Lawson, who was unable to attend.
The Moatzes were married Oct. 26, 1947, at St. Ann's Church in Smithsburg by the Rev. F.R. Trevor.
Mrs. Moatz is the former Lorraine Bricker.
Mr. Moatz worked for Mack Trucks.
They have 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
