The Smiths
George and Delores Smith of Boonsboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997 at their home.
The celebration was hosted by their children and spouses, Candy and David Barnhart and Brian and Valerie Smith.
The Smiths were married on Sept. 9, 1947, at First Baptist Church in Hagerstown with the Rev. Paul B. Watlington officiating.
Mrs. Smith is the daughter of the late Ross and Violet Wynkoop.
Mr. Smith is the son of the late Harry and Charlotte Smith.
He is a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He is also a retired regional director of the International Union, United Auto Workers.
They have five grandchildren.
