Valerie Ann Wetzel and Brian Lee Weigel were united in marriage Friday, May 5, 2000 during a double ring ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck.
The bride is the daughter of David and Margo Wetzel and the groom is the son of Ken Weigel and Dorene Weigel, all of Bismarck.
Fr. Kramer officiated at the ceremony and pianist was Murial Mahoney. Vocalist was Chris Volk.
Candelabras decorated with flowers and lavender and white pew bows decorated the church.
David and Margo Wetzel gave their daughter in marriage.
The bride wore a sleeveless a-line dress featuring a beaded and lace bodice with a border of beads and lace at the bottom of her satin skirt and train.
Her veil was held by a flowered and beaded headpiece and she carried lavender daisies, white roses and white mums.
Melina Keller was maid of honor and wore a sleeveless lavender chiffon dress.
Bridesmaids were Sara Gerheardt, Susan Raab, Amanda Weigel and Kayla Weigel.
Their dresses were similar to the one worn by the maid of honor.
Derek Weigel was best man and groomsmen were Steve Pruse, Ben Neigum, James Schmidt and Jonathan Vonish.
David Lacroix was ringbearer and flower girl was Bethany Remboldt.
She wore a sleeveless white long satin dress.
Ushers were Michael Wetzel, Daniel Weigel, Jason Brandt and Weston Schneider.
The bride’s mother was attired in a royal blue dress and the groom’s mother wore an off white dress.
A wedding reception was held at the Eagles Club in Mandan for 400 guests.
Helping at the reception were Chuck and Jackie Brandt, Fran and Tim Lacroix, Sara Weigel and Natasha Weichel.
The bride has earned a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Mary and is employed as an accountant at Basin Electric in Bismarck.
The groom earned a degree in criminal justice and is employed by the city of Bismarck.
Following a wedding trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida and a cruise to the Bahamas, Mr. and Mrs. Weigel are now at home at 1145 Jefferson Avenue, Bismarck.
