The Wigginses

Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Wiggins were honored at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Venice Inn in Hagerstown.

The dinner party was hosted by their lifelong friends, Doris and Fred Friedrich of Hagerstown, and attended by family members and friends.

Their son and daughter-in-law Ron and Beverly Wiggins sent the Wigginses on a Caribbean cruise.

Mrs. Wiggins, the former Eileen Williams, retired after 25 years of state service as District Court Commissioner of Washington County.

Mr. Wiggins is a retired salesman for Potomac Edison.

He also served during World War II in the Pacific theater.

The Wigginses were married March 1, 1947, by the Rev. Gordon Sperry at Christ Reformed Church in Hagerstown.

(Obituary of Boyd Wiggins: "Boyd Wiggins, 86, of 18534 Kent Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. Born Nov. 27, 1915, in Bremen, Ky., he was the son of the late Elijah G. and Edna H. Whitmer Wiggins. He was employed by Allegheny Power, retiring in 1984 after 27 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Engineering Corps. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of Williamsport American Legion Post 202, Disabled American Veterans Ralph Tagg Chapter, Lions Club of Halfway, and AARP. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen W. Wiggins; one son, Ronald D. Wiggins of Gaithersburg, Md.; and one sister, Bertie L. Abbott of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by nine sisters and brothers.")
