The Hutsons
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Hutson of Sharpsburg were honored with a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Sunday, March 23, 1997, at the Sharpsburg Ambulance Co. building in Sharpsburg.
The event was hosted by the couples' children, Donald Hutson of Hagerstown and Bonnie Thompson of Shepherdstown, W.Va.
Mrs. Hutson is the former Jessie A. Spitler of Macanie, Va.
She is the daughter of the late George and Virgie Spitler.
Mr. Hutson is the son of the late George W. and Sadie A. Hutson.
He retired in 1986 from National Park Service and is a veteran of World War II.
The Hutsons were married March 25, 1947, in Boonsboro by the Rev. Herpich.
They have four grandchildren.

(Obituary of James Hutson: "JAMES EDWARD HUTSON, 83, of 5119 Harpers Ferry Road, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Washington County Hospital. Born Aug. 22, 1917, in Antietam, Md., he was the son of the late Sadie Ada Alice Jamison and George Washington Hutson. He was employed by C&O Canal Park Service in maintenance, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He attended Antietam Church of God. He was a member of Antietam Post 236 American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jessie Ann Spitter Hutson of Sharpsburg; a daughter, Bonnie Ann Thompson of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; a son, Donald James Hutson of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Services were held at Bast Funeral Home; burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.")
