The Mogensens
Max O. and Marjorie I. Mogensen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997 with a dinner at Fountain Head Country Club.
The event was hosted by their children, Sandra Leyo, Barbara Molten and Rick Mogensen and by their spouses.
Approximately 120 family members and friends attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Mogensen were married Jan. 11, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown by Dr. Wilson P. Ard.
The Mogensens have been in business together as owners of North End Market for 11 years and Hesco Inc. for 34 years.
They have four grandchildren.

(Obituary of Max Mogensen: "MAX O. MOGENSEN, 84, of 1705 Mt. Aetna Road in Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Washington County Hospital. Born Dec. 14, 1918, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Max R. and Helen G. Orrick Mogensen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the 115th Infantry Band, 29th Division and headquartered in the Philippine Bay Section. He was former owner and president of Hesco Inc., former owner and operator of the North End Market and formerly was employed at Merchants Wholesale Grocery Company. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was a member of the Sunday School orchestra. He was a 50-year member of the Hagerstown Municipal Band; former secretary-treasurer of the American Federation of Musicians Union Local 770; member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 378; lifetime member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42; Fountainhead Country Club; and former member of the Optimist Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Irene Mogensen, on Feb. 11, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Molten of Alexandria, Va., and Sandra Baughman of Midlothian, Va.; one son, Rick Mogensen of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Cookie Schaffranek of Morehead City, N.C., Holly Leyo of Charlestown, Mass., Michael Mogensen of Hagerstown, Angie Mogensen of Greenbelt, Md., and Grayson Baughman of Midlothian. Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.")
