The Sniders

John and Edna Snider of Mercersburg, Pa., celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at Gibble's Restaurant.

The surprise celebration was hosted by their son, John, and his wife, Jean.

Many friends and family attended the event.

Mrs. Snider is the daughter of the late David and Ida Ommert of Lemasters, Pa.

Mr. Snider is the son of the late Bruce and Nell Snider of Williamson, Pa.

The Sniders were married Jan. 27, 1932, in Hagerstown.

The Sniders have one son, John Jr. of Mercersburg, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Edna Snider: "Mrs. Edna O. Snider 92, of Mercersburg, Pa., died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005, in Menno Haven Nursing Center, Chambersburg, Pa. Born March 12, 1913, in Lemasters, Pa., she was a daughter of the late David C. and Ida C. Holstay Ommert. Mrs. Snider was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Williamson, Pa., where she was quite active. She was associated with Women of LCA, former primary Sunday school teacher and former choir member. Mrs. Snider was a charter member of MMP&W Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Mercersburg Women's Club. She was a homemaker. Her personal interests included attending her great-grandchildren's sporting events, following Baltimore Orioles baseball and going to the beach. Her husband, John N. Snider, Sr., whom she married January 27, 1932, died November 7, 2000. Surviving are her son, John N. (husband of Rowena A.) Snider, Jr. of Mercersburg; a grandson, Tyrone C. "Ty" (husband of Sheila D.) Snider, and two great-grandchildren, Aaron Cody Snider and Amanda R. Snider all of Mercersburg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Burial, Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, Pa.")
