The Semlers
M. Lucille and Frank E. Semler Sr. of Smithsburg celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a dinner hosted by their family at Venice Inn in Hagerstown.
The Semlers were married in Hagerstown Jan. 23, 1932, by the Rev. G.I. Rider.
The couple had five children, Frank E. Semler Jr., Charles R. Semler Sr., Carol M. Craig, Vickie J. Stang, and the late Beverly L. Bowers.
They owned and operated a dairy farm in Smithsburg until their retirement in 1971.
They also have 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

SMITHSBURG - Frank E. Semler Sr., 90, of Comanche Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Washington County Hospital. Born Aug. 6, 1913, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George and Catherine Smith Semler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Warrenfeltz Semler, in 2003. They were married Jan. 23, 1932. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Craig and Vickie J. Stang, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Frank E. Semler Jr. and Charles Ronald Semler, both of Smithsburg; one brother, Donald Semler of Staten Island, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.")

Born Nov. 13, 1915, in Chewsville, she was the daughter of Charles and Cora Stouffer Warrenfeltz. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Semler Sr.; two daughters, Carol Craig and Vickie J. Stang, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Frank E. Semler Jr. and Charles R. Semler, both of Smithsburg; one sister, Jane McKinsey of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Bowers; and one half brother, Jake Warrenfeltz. Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.")
