The Kumps
Willis "Woody" and Betty Steinbach Kump of Potomac Heights in Falling Waters, W.Va., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997.
The Kumps were married Jan. 12, 1947, in Chambersburg, Pa. by the Rev. Neal of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Kump is the former Betty Ann Steinbach of Chambersburg.
She previously was employed at The Bon Ton stores in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Hagerstown and at Budget Bakery in Hagerstown.
Mr. Kump, also formerly of Chambersburg, was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and the Social Security Administration office in Hagerstown.
He is owner and broker of Kump Realty in Falling Waters.
The Kumps have three children, Larry D. Kump of Falling Waters, Linda S. Nave of State Line, Pa., and David W. Kump of Falling Waters.
They also have four grandchildren.

(Obituary of Willis Kump: "Mr. Willis T. "Woody" Kump, 81, of 253 Grade Road, Falling Waters, WV, died at 2:30 P.M., Monday, May 12, 2008 in Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport, MD. He had been critically ill for the past year. Born April 12, 1927 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar R. and Rhoda (Seyler) Kump. He spent his early life in the Chambersburg area. Mr. Kump was a graduate of Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1945. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from April 10, 1945 until January 22, 1947 in the Pacific Theater. He and his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Betty Ann (Steinbach) Kump, were married January 12, 1947 in Chambersburg. They had lived in Falling Waters, WV, for over 30 years. Mr. Kump was employed for H.J. Heinz Company and T.B. Woods, both of Chambersburg and Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown. He also co-owned Cumberland Valley Poultry Center in Greencastle, PA. Mr. Kump was later employed for Washington National Insurance Company, American Tobacco Company and the United States Postal Service. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a claims administrator for the Social Security Administration. Following his retirement, he began a career as a real estate broker with Kump Realty. He was a member of Bethel Chapel and Trinity Lutheran Church, both of Chambersburg; Trinity Lutheran Church in Greencastle and Hagerstown; Antietam Fire Department, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #378 and V.F. W. Post #1936, all of Hagerstown; West Virginia Am Vets; Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319 of Greencastle; Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg; life member of Williamsport, MD American Legion and various Loyal Order of Moose Clubs. Mr. Kump also served as a volunteer at McKinley Street Fire Department, Chambersburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Linda S. Warren of Waynesboro, PA; two sons, Larry D. Kump and David W. Kump, both of Falling Waters, WV; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold "Curly" Kump of California; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kump was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Cafagno; and one brother, Darryl Kump. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 South Washington Street, Greencastle, with his son, Larry D., Kump, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Thursday afternoon in the funeral home. Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full military honors.
