The Rodgerses
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Godlove Rodgers of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996, with a dinner at the Elks Club in Hagerstown.
The event was hosted by their daughter, Charlene, and her husband, Bert Lee, of Clear Spring, and their daughter, Debra, and her husband, Dennis Mummert, of Smithsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers were married Oct. 1, 1946, by the Rev. Gonso.
Mrs. Rodgers is the former Virginia Shrader.
She was employed at Kings Department Store.
Mr. Rodgers is retired from Independent Cement Corporation with 41 years of service.
The couple has seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Paul Rodgers: "Paul Godlove Rodgers, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born Sept. 9, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Sydney Vance and Lulu Lunn (Galienne) Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers retired as a truck driver for North American Cement Co., Hagerstown. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, BPO Elks 378 and the Western Maryland Sportsman's Club. He was an avid bowler and hunter, and loved Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Virginia (Shrader) Rodgers; two daughters, Charlene Lee of Leesburg, Fla., and Debra Y. McAninch of Fayetteville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two favorite nieces, Juanita 'Weinie' Beall and Cookie McDowell. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by five brothers, Homer, Carl, Vance, Lewis and Sidney Rodgers; his foster parents, James C. and Mary Ann (Roach) Godlove; five foster brothers, William, Guy, Boyd, John and Ed Godlove and four foster sisters, Violet Williams, Mearl Williams, Esther Forcino and Gladys Godlove. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ken Fizer and the Rev. Carl Zinn officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. A reception will be held following the services at Summerland Manor Community Center, 190 Sunbrook Lane, Hagerstown. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., where BPO Elks 378 will conduct a memorial service.
