The Lees
Fern and Russell M. Lee of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 27, 1996, at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship hall.
The event was hosted by their four daughters, Virginia Buckley-Gray of Franklin, N.C., Dolores Lee of Smithsburg, Marcella Jackson of Hagerstown and Carol Biggerstaff of Burleson, Texas.
Sixty-three friends and family members attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee were married in Centralia, Mo., Oct. 25, 1946, by Elder H.C. Hartman.
Mrs. Lee is the daughter of Velma Owens of Portland, Tenn., and the late John T. Owens.
She is retired from Corroon and Black in Nashville, Tenn.
Mr. Lee is the son of the late Allen and Hazel Lee of Nashville.
He is retired after 37 years of service from Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Madison, Tenn., and Southern Publishing Association in Nashville.
The Lees have 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Airy, Maryland, and formerly of Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Dove House, Carroll Hospice in Westminster, Maryland. Born October 15, 1929 in Stauton County, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Velma Grace Castor Owens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Maynard Lee on September 16, 2008. She was an insurance agent with Corroon & Black Insurance Agency in Nashville, Tennessee. She volunteered at the Adventist Community Center. She was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Virginia Buckley-Gray of Monroe, Georgia, Dolores F. Lee, and Marcella J. Jackson, both of Hagerstown, and Carol A. Buckman of Pasadena, Maryland; one son, Scott Lee of Crowley, Texas; three sisters, Bette Parris of Kilua-Kona, Hawaii, Jodi Eulene Patterson, of Collegedale, Tennessee, and Johnnie Sue Lorren of Ocoee, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Pearl Owens. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. Pastor Tim Lee, and Linda McCabe will officiate. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dove House, Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland 21157. (Obituary of Russell Lee: "Russell Maynard Lee, 82, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Williamsport Nursing Home. Born July 21, 1926, in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of the late Ethan Allen and Hazel Faye Maynard Lee. He had been employed by Southern Publishing Association in Tennessee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, Fern Owens Lee, whom he married Oct. 25, 1946; four daughters, Virginia Buckley-Gray of Atlanta, Dolores F. Lee and Marcella J. Jackson, both of Hagerstown, and Carol A. Buckman of Pasadena, Md.; one son, Timothy S. Lee of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond A. Lee. A memorial service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Rick Remmers will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 42. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
