The Browns
Jean and Robert P. Brown Jr. of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, in the fellowship hall of Church of the Nazarene in Hagerstown.
The event was hosted by their son, Dewayne, and his wife, Connie.
Approximately 75 family members, relatives and friends attended.
The Browns were married Sept. 11, 1946, in Glasgow, W.Va., by the Rev. Glen C. Bowling, pastor of Glasgow Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Brown, the former Jean Linkous of Glasgow, is a licensed cosmetologist and was employed by Wallace Beauty Shop at Long Meadow Shopping Center and Valencia Hairstylists in Hagerstown.
Mr. Brown was employed by United Association of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Glasgow for 44 years and served as business manager of Local 769 for 16 1/2 years in Hagerstown.
The couple has two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

(Obituary of Jean Brown: "Mrs. Musette Jean Brown, 86, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Homewood at Williamsport. She was the wife of the late Robert Preston Brown, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 17, 2000. Born August 22, 1927, in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Bittle Oscar and Nellie Estelle Hanson Linkous. She graduated East Bank (WV) High School. Mrs. Brown was a beautician at the Valencia Beauty Salon. She was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene, where she taught the Toddler Sunday School Class for 30 years. Surviving is her son, Dewayne R. Brown and wife Connie of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Daryl D. Brown and wife Brenda of Smithsburg, and Diane L. Sweeney and husband Eddie of Hagerstown; her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Amanda and Austin; as well as her siblings, Susie Coburn of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Robert Linkous of Charleston, West Virginia, and Rufus Linkous of Wilmington, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by siblings, Venita Hancock, and Charles and Patrick Linkous. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, at 11:30 AM, at Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Steven Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Tuesday, April 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, as well as at the church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 AM.
