Mr. and Mrs. William E. Wolford celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday, Aug. 29, 1996, with a picnic luncheon at Halfway Park.
The event was hosted by their grandchildren and friends.
Many friends and relatives attended.
The couple's three children also celebrated their anniversaries along with their parents.
They are William E. Wolford Jr., his wife, Mary Jo Selser, 40th wedding anniversary, July 11, 1996; Barbara and William Britner, 35th wedding anniversary, Aug. 23, 1996; and Bonnie and Thurman Fiery, 30th wedding anniversary, July 1, 1996.

(Obituary of William Wolford: "William E. "Bill" Wolford Sr., 84, of Millstone Garden Apartments, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro. Born Feb. 28, 1918, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late James Mansfield and Edna Virginia Jordan Wolford. He attended Williamsport schools. He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps during the 1930s and National Guard Company B from 1934 to 1937. He was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. He was a member of Western Maryland Oldtimer's Club and Williamsport Historical Society, both of Williamsport; AARP, where he served as the first president; BPOE Elks Lodge 378; Potomac Post 202 American Legion and Conococheague IORM Tribe 84, both of Williamsport; and volunteered with Meals On Wheels for eight years. He is survived by his wife, Dorotha E. Martin Wolford, whom he married Aug. 29, 1936; two daughters, Barbara M. Britner of Williamsport, and Bonnie J. Fiery of Hagerstown; one son, William E. Wolford Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Patsy V. Powell and Claudia V. Smith, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, James M. Wolford of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and Gary E. Wolford of Etna, Maine; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry M. Wolford and David S. Wolford; and one grandson. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m. The family requests the omission of flowers.
