The Kindles
Harry and Mary Kindle were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Nov. 16, 1996, at Eagle's Club in Hagerstown.
The event was hosted by their children, Janet, Judy and Bobby.
Many family members and friends attended.
The Kindles were married Nov. 16, 1946, by the Rev. Miller at Miller's Tabernacle in Hagerstown.
Mr. Kindle was a retired barber.
Mrs. Kindle retired from Landis Machine Company in Waynesboro, Pa.
The Kindles have six grandchildren.
Mr. Kindle passed away a few days after the celebration.

(Obituary of Harry Kindle: "Harry W. Kindle, 69, of 42 W. Water St., died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1996, at Washington County Hospital. Born Feb. 15, 1927, in Edgemont, Md., he was the son of the late Lewis N. "Jack" and Curella Plume Kindle. He was a self-employed barber, operating his barber shop out of his home until he retired on disability. He also drove a school bus for the Washington County School District until he suffered a heart attack. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, he served in the South Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg. He also was a member of the William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, Waynesboro, Pa., and the National AARP. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Elizabeth Swope Kindle; two daughters, Janet L. Wallech of Maugansville and Judith A. Smith of Hagerstown; one son, Bobby L. Kindle of Hagerstown; one brother, Andrew S. Kindle of Ringgold; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Fox and Elise Jones; and four brothers, Richard Kindle, Charles Kindle, Clifford Kindle and Amos Kindle. Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Donald E. Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.")
(Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Kindle: "Mary E. Kindle, 72, of West Water Street, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Washington County Hospital. Born April 1, 1927, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Roy N. and Mary Tracy Swope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Kindle, in 1996. She was employed by Dorbee's Dress Factory in Hagerstown; Double Day Co. in Smithsburg; and Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro, Pa. She is survived by two daughters, Janet L. Wallech of Maugansville and Judy A. Smith of Smithsburg; a son, Bobby L. Kindle of Hagerstown; three sisters, Frances Stuckey of Waynesboro, Pearl Harbaugh of Hagerstown and Betty Fahrney of Boonsboro; three brothers, George Swope of Quincy, Pa., Mitchell Swope of Hagerstown and Roy Swope Jr. of Rouzerville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Don Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.
