The Bakers
George and Jeanne Baker were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Old South Mountain Inn in Boonsboro, Sunday, Aug. 18, 1996.
The reception was hosted by their children, Sharyn Migyanka, Kenneth Baker and Kathy Connor.
Many family members were in attendance including Mr. Baker's mother, Thelma Baker, of Nanty Glo, Pa., as well as Mrs. Baker's mother, Ethel Lauffer of Hagerstown.
After dinner, the family gathered for refreshments at the home of their granddaughter in Hagerstown. The Baker's have six grandchildren.
Mr. Baker is retired from Baltimore Life Insurance Co.
Mrs. Baker is retired from Fisher's Pharmacy.
The couple was married Aug. 18, 1946, in Johnstown, Pa.

(Obituary of Jeanne Baker: "L. JEANNE BAKER, 82, of 129 South Valley Drive, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital. Born May 16, 1925 in Portage, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Ethel V. Lewis Lauffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, George S. Baker on December 29, 2003. She was retired from Fisher Pharmacy. She was a member of St. James Brethren Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sharyn L. Baker, and Kathie Connor, both of Hagerstown; one son, Kenneth G. Baker of Boonsboro, Maryland; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Lauffer, and George Lauffer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. James Brethren Church. Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Cemetery in Tilghmanton, Maryland. Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
