Dr. and Mrs. William Beckner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 18, 1996, at a dinner party at Continental Restaurant in Winchester, Va.
The party was hosted by their daughters, Dr. Jane Mauk and her husband, Greg, Marsha Yarbrough and her husband, James, and Dr. Beth Mills and her husband, Doug; their sons, Richard Beckner and his wife, Barb; and Dr. Bill Beckner and his wife, Suzanne.
The Beckners were married Aug. 30, 1946, at First Presbyterian Church in Reidsville, N.C.
Mrs. Beckner is the former Wanda Jacobs, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. Douglas Jacobs of Reidsville.
Dr. Beckner is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beckner of Rock Bridge Baths, Va.
He served as a paratrooper with the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne during World War II.
He is practicing ophthalmic medicine in Hagerstown.
Mrs. Beckner is his receptionist.
The Beckners, formerly of Hagerstown, Md., now reside in Clearbrook, Va.
