A surprise 50th wedding anniversary dinner party honoring Paul and Evelyn Schlotterbeck was given Friday, July 26, 1996, at Western Maryland Sportsman's Club, with family and friends in attendance.
It was hosted by their son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Debbie, and three grandchildren.
The Schlotterbeck family also assisted.
The Schlotterbecks were married July 27, 1946, by Father Ballard.

(Obituary of Paul Schlotterbeck: " Paul Howard Schlotterbeck, 91 - JULY 12, 1926 - AUG. 30, 2017 - Paul Howard Schlotterbeck , 91, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at the Williamsport Retirement Village. Born Monday, July 12, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Albert Richard Schlotterbeck Sr. and the late Edith V. (Marker) Schlotterbeck. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Evelyn Schlotterbeck, in 2013. Paul was a carpenter for 42 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Western Maryland Sportsman's Club, North American Rod Gun Club, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Eagles Club Aerie Lodge 694, Antietam Fire Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Greencastle, Pa., and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Joiners Local 1590. He is survived by his son, Mark Paul Schlotterbeck and wife, Debbie, of Wetumpka, Ala; one sister, Patricia Hovermale of Hagerstown; two brothers, Allen E. Schlotterbeck of Hagerstown and Kenneth P. Schlotterbeck of Florida; three grandchildren, Andrea Hatchcock and husband, George, of Montgomery, Ala., Christopher Schlotterbeck of Vacaville, Calif., and James Schlotterbeck and wife, Mary, of Montgomery; and one great-grandchild, Luke Hatchcock. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothea Smith and Martha J. Loudin, and brothers, Albert Richard Schlotterbeck Jr. and Donald R. Schlotterbeck. Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. G. Stanley Steele and the Rev. Thomas L. Perry officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Born Saturday, Jan. 24, 1925, in Hancock, Md., she was the son of the late Boyd D. Knable and the late Helen E. (Shoemaker) Knable. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School for several years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morris Frock American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the North American Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Paul Howard Schlotterbeck; one son, Mark Paul Schlotterbeck and wife, Debbie, of Wetumpka, Ala.; brother, Gene B. Knable and wife, Pat, of Danville, Ala.; nephew, Ronald Tosten of Decatur, Ala.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Andrea and James; and one great-grandchild Luke; also many nieces and nephews.
