The Kretzers
Mr. and Mrs. Seibert Kretzer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996, at a surprise reception at Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown.
Mrs. Kretzer passed away Aug. 25, 1996.
The affair was hosted by their daughter, Becky, and her husband, Wally Shepherd, of Hagerstown and their son Robert Kretzer of Jacksonville, Fla.
In attendance were friends, family members and two grandsons.
Mr. Kretzer has been employed by Electrolux Corporation for 41 years.
The late Mrs. Kretzer, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., was a homemaker.
The couple was married Aug. 10, 1946, by the Rev. G.I. Rider in the parsonage of United Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

From an article dated August 17, 1946: "Miss Bounds Is Wed To Seibert Kretzer - Couple Exchange Vows in Simple Ceremony at the Grace U. B. Parsonage.
The parsonage of the Grace United Brethren Church was the scene of a quiet wedding ceremony last Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock when Miss Angeline Bounds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bounds of Knoxville, Tenn., became the bride of Mr. Seibert Glenn Kretzer, son of Mr. anti Mrs. Richard J. Kretzer, 322 Bryan Place.
The Rev. G. I. Rider performed the double ring ceremony.
Wearing a white gabardine suit, the bride selected white and powder blue accessories and a corsage at pink rosebuds to complete her wedding outfit. The couple were unattended.
Following a short honeymoon trip, the couple are now residing with the parents of the bridegroom on Bryan Place.
Mr. Kretzer, after his graduation from the Hagerstown High School, served iii the Army for 41 months, 22 months being spent overseas.
