Dukes - Griffies

Mrs. Jane Dukes announces the engagement of her daughter, Laura Elizabeth Dukes, to John Whitfield Griffies III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Griffies Jr. of Fayetteville.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late David L. Dukes and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Adams of Gainesville and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh L. Dukes of Carrollton.

A graduate of Central High School in Macon, she received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

She will begin teaching in Marietta this fall while finishing her masters of education degree in early childhood education at the University of Georgia.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Anita H. McLellan and the late Albert H. McLellan of Macon and Mrs. Laura J. Griffies and the late John W. Griffies of Macon.

A graduate of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, he was graduated with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a bachelor’s degree in management and finance.

He currently works in sales and marketing for Bee Gee Graphics in Atlanta.

The wedding is planned for June 26, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon.
