SCOTTSBLUFF - Melissa McKean, daughter of Richard and Kathleen McKean of Bayard, formerly of Alliance, was married to Shad Forgey, son of Steve and Shirley Forgey of Casper, Wyo. on Dec. 28, 2001 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Fr. Stephen Deaver, great-uncle of the bride, officiated at the ceremony. J.C. Forgey, cousin of the groom was the server.
Accompanists were Maggie Miller, friend of the bride, and Theresa Rezak.
Soloist was Audra Meyer, cousin of the bride.
Readers were Dave and Bernadette Nelson, aunt and uncle and Godparents of the bride.
The maid of honor was Dawn Forgey, sister of the groom.
The bridesmaid was Andrea Hinrichs, friend of the couple.
Ellen Meyer, aunt of the bride, was the personal attendant, and Anna Furrey, cousin of the bride was the flower girl.
The best man was Kevin Hinrichs, friend of the couple.
The groomsman was Ryan McKean, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Stephen McKean, brother of the bride, and Justin Steinke, cousin of the groom.
Gavin Furrey, cousin of the bride, served as ring bearer.
A reception and dance was hosted at the Scottsbluff Elks Lodge. Cake servers were Theresa Kulbel and Bernadette Nelson, aunts of the bride. Danielle Meyer, cousin of the bride, and Teneil Forgey, cousin of the groom, served the punch.
Those serving the head table were Lynn Simmons, friend of the bride's family, and Sarah, Kim and Kelsey Forgey and Sammy Steinke, cousins of the groom.
The bride is the granddaughter of Virginia (Deaver) Meyer, formerly of Alliance, and the late Charley Meyer of Winner, S.D., and Elmer and Dorothy Cwach of Sturgis, S.D.
She also is the granddaughter of the late Richard "Dick" McKean of Bayard.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Bayard High School and has attended Western Nebraska Community College for three years.
The groom is a 1993 graduate of Kelly Walsh High School and a 2001 graduate of Casper Community College.
He is employed at Sinclair Pipeline.
Following a wedding trip to Deadwood, S.D., the couple resides at Casper, Wyo.
