Ottoes to celebrate 50th Anniversary
Dr. Louis and Marilyn Otto of Arlington will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at Mahoney Park on Aug. 15, 1998.
The couple have three married children: Lynda and Dennis Biehl of Lexington, Janet and Dennis Warner of Arlington and Dan and Melinda Otto of Manhattan, Kan.
They have eight grandchildren.
Louis and Marilyn were married in her grandmother's garden in Wamego, Kan., on Aug. 15, 1948.

(Obituary of Dr. Louis Otto: "Dr. Louis Kinman Otto, 84, of Arlington died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Nye Legacy in Fremont. He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Ashland, Kan., and he was the beloved only child of Merton and Kathryn Otto. He graduated from Manhattan (Kan.) High School in 1943, and then attended Kansas State University during the fall of 1943 where he lettered his freshman year in football and was a member of the KSU basketball team. In December 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and he served in the 5th Infantry until the spring of 1946. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Kansas State and finished his studies in veterinary medicine. While at Kansas State, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He married Marilyn Larson on Aug. 15, 1948, in her grandmother’s garden at Wamego, Kan., and was a devoted husband for 61 years. After graduating with his DVM degree in May 1951, he went to work for Drs. Cady and Cady in Arlington. In 1953, he became a partner with Dr. Jack Cady and together they had a successful practice for 28 years. He joined Vigortone Ag Products as a technical service veterinarian where he stayed for 10 years after retiring from private veterinary practice. During this time he also was an advisor and consultant to many livestock growers. Doc (as he was known to many friends and family) was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, and he served on many committees within those organizations. He also was appointed to Governor Exon’s Veterinary School Advisory Board and was a member of the Nebraska Board of Veterinary Examiners. As an active member of the Arlington community, he was an involved member of the Arlington Community Church for 60 years, as well as the Arlington Village Board, the American Legion, Arlington Volunteer Firemen, the Arlington Community Club and Arlington Community Foundation Board. In recent years, he volunteered at Low Income Ministry and the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation Board. Doc also enjoyed taking an active role with the youth of the community. He was a midget baseball coach, a church youth sponsor and supported other programs that were both church and community related. Doc is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Lynda (and husband, Dennis) Biehl of Lexington and Janet (and husband, Dennis) Warner of Arlington; and son, Daniel (and wife, Melinda) Otto of Lincoln. He was a beloved grandfather who took joy in watching his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren grow. The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Arlington City Auditorium with the Rev. Bill Switzer officiating. There is no visitation, however, there is a book signing with family receiving friends from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday at the Arlington City Auditorium. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8332 and American Legion Post 71 of Arlington following the memorial service. Family interment will be at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan. The family prefers memorials be given to the Arlington Community Church, the American Diabetes Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
