Gorehams to celebrate 50th Anniversary
Leonard and Iona Goreham of Fremont will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 5, 1998.
An open house for the couple's friends and relatives will begin at the Fremont Eagles Club at 6 p.m.
The event is hosted by the couple's children, Iris and Paul Mittura and Leonard Jr. and Elaine Goreham, their four grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.

(Obituary of Leonard Goreham: "Leonard Goreham Sr. - The funeral for Leonard L. Goreham Sr., 77, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Monday, June 24, 2002, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born Feb. 13, 1925, in rural Blair. He grew up on a farm west of Blair. He was a 1942 graduate of Blair High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Aug. 8, 1945, to Jan. 13, 1947, and served in Germany. After his discharge, he moved to Fremont and was an auto mechanic. He was formerly employed by Holger "Shorty" Anderson, then by Dan Andersen and finally for Grid Auto until retiring March 2000. He married Mabel I. Sheets Sept. 2, 1948, in Blair. He was a member of American Legion Post 20 of Fremont, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 of Fremont, National Rifle Association and was a 35-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Leonard Jr. (and wife, Elaine) Goreham of Fremont; a daughter, Iris (Mrs. Paul) Mittura of Fremont; a brother, Leo (and wife, Inez) Goreham of Fremont; a sister, Darlene (Mrs. Wilford) Sheets of Fremont; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Rev. Phillip Vance of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery in Blair. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.")
(Obituary of Iona Goreham: "Mabel Goreham - The funeral for Mabel I. “Onie” Goreham, 76, of Fremont was this morning at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. She died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont. She was born July 16, 1929, in Blair to Will Leonard and Mabel (Lund) Sheets Sr. She grew up in the Herman and Blair area. Mabel Sheets married Leonard L. Goreham Sr. on Sept. 2, 1948, in Blair. The couple moved to Fremont, where she has since resided. She was employed at the former Campbell Soup Co. in Fremont for 30 years, until retiring in 1989. Her husband, Leonard, died on June 24, 2002. Survivors include: a son, Leonard (and wife, Elaine) Goreham Jr. of Fremont; a daughter, Iris (and husband, Paul) Mittura of Fremont; four brothers, Gerald (and wife, Mildred) Sheets and Wilford (and wife, Darlene) Sheets, all of Fremont, Milford (and wife, Ramona) Sheets of Versailles, Mo. and LeRoy (and wife, Alice) Sheets of Central City; three sisters, Xona Groves of Blair, Loretta (and husband, Kenneth) Kleckner of North Bend, and Dorena “Dena” (and husband, Robert) Dalton of West Monroe, La.; a brother-in-law, Leo Goreham of Fremont; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by: three sisters and two brothers. Chaplain Joe Brown of Fremont Area Medical Center officiated today’s service. Burial will be in Blair Cemetery.
