Meierhenrys to celebrate 65th Anniversary
Harold and Ole Meierhenry of Fremont will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an informal open house on Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998.
The open house will be at Camp Fontanelle from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The camp is two miles south of Fontanelle on County Road 3.
Hosting the event are the couple's daughters and spouses, JoAnn and Orvin Scheer of Arlington, Marilyn and Phil Katt of Nickerson and Judy and Vern Geisler of Hooper.
The couple has seven grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
Harold Meierhenry and Iola Shipman were married Sept. 10, 1933, in Havelock.

Meierhenry 78th anniversary
Former Washington County residents Harold and Ole Meierhenry of Fremont, will be marking their 78th anniversary. They were married Sept. 10, 1933, in the garden of her parents' home in Havelock.
Their family includes daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Orvin Scheer, Marilyn and Phil Katt, and Judy and Vern Geisler; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Ole Meierhenry: "Iola “Ole” Meierhenry, 100, of Fremont died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont. She was born March 1, 1912, in Havelock to Herbert and Jessie (Hartshorn) Shipman. She was a graduate of Havelock High School. She married Harold Meierhenry on Sept. 10, 1933, in Havelock. The couple farmed near Telbasta for 50 years until moving to Fremont in 1979. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 375, Order of Eastern Star at Havelock and was a former member of Havelock Congregational Church. She was a former member of E.U.B. Telbasta Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of the Pleasant Hour Club and the Bakers Dozen Sunshine Club at Telbasta. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women in Fremont. Survivors include: her husband, Harold; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Orvin Scheer of Arlington, Marilyn and Phil Katt of Fremont and Judy and Vernon Geisler of Hooper; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Susan Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the church or Camp Fontanelle.")
(Obituary of Harold Meierhenry: "Harold P. Meierhenry, 100, of Fremont died Tuesday April 24, 2012, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont. He was born Nov. 9, 1911, in Telbasta to Carl and Anna (Niederdeppe) Meierhenry. He grew up in Telbasta and farmed north of Arlington. He married Iola Shipman on Sept. 10, 1933, in Havelock. They moved to Washington State in 1957 for a year before returning to farm north of Arlington. They retired and moved to Fremont in 1979. Iola died March 14, 2012. Harold and Iola had been Nebraska’s longest married couple, 78 years. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, former member of the Fontanelle Glee Club and the Telbasta Evangelical United Brethren Church where he sang in the choir and quartet and taught Sunday school and served as Sunday school superintendent. He also sang for many weddings and funerals. The couple received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award from the Knights of Aksarben. Survivors include: daughters, JoAnn (Orvin) Scheer of Arlington, Marilyn (Phil) Katt of Fremont, Judy (Vernon) Geisler of Hooper; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
