Parr to celebrate silver anniversary

Charlie and Leslie Parr celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at a gathering on May 2, 1998.

The Parrs were married May 5, 1973 in the First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ in Fremont, and have spent most of their married life in Arlington.

They are the parents of daughters and son-in-law Brook and Dan Schonlau; and Jennifer Parr, also of Arlington; and a son, Justin Parr, who is stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont.

(Obituary of Charlie Parr: " Charles G. “Charlie” Parr, 52, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Arlington City Auditorium. The Rev. Lynn Martin will officiate. Masonic services took place on Thursday, Aug. 24, and was conducted by Hiram Masonic Lodge #52, A.F. & A. M. of Arlington at Reckmeyer–Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home, and one hour prior to funeral services at the auditorium. A military graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post #8332 and American Legion Post #71 of Arlington. Burial will be at the Arlington Cemetery. Charles G. Parr was born on Aug. 28, 1947, to Charles and Dorothy (Collard) Parr at Sacramento, Calif. He grew up in Sacramento and Covington, Ga., and lived in several places in the United States and overseas while his father was in the service. He was a graduate of Newton County High School in Covington. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from June 9, 1966 to May 28, 1970, and held the rank of sergeant. He then served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for four years and was a staff sergeant. He attended Middle Georgia College at Cochran and Denver Metropolitan Community College in Denver, Colo. He married Leslie House on May 5, 1973, at Fremont. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Denver for one year, and then moved to Arlington in 1974. He was employed at House Lumber Co. in Arlington as a saleman and then was a salesman for a wholesale lumber dealer. He moved to Stewartville, Minn., in 1983, and then returned to Arlington in 1984. Mr. Parr later was a computer salesman and then did technical support. He was employed for three years at Mid America Computer Corporation in Blair, where he was a technical support supervisor. He was a member of the Arlington Community Church; member of V.F.W. Post #8332 of Arlington; the American Legion Post #71 of Arlington, where he had been a past commander; member of Hiram Masonic Lodge #52, A.F.& A.M. of Arlington and was Past Master; member of Sarepta chapter #48, order of Eastern Star at Arlington and was a Past Patron; and was a former member of the Arlington Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Leslie; son, Justin Parr of Arlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Daniel Schonlau of Arlington; a daughter, Jennifer Parr of Fremont; his parents, Charles and Dorothy Parr of Covington, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Lyle Arnold of Covington; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Ruby House of Arlington; brother-in-law, David and wife, Saundra House, of Omaha; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Community Church. Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.")
