Berens, Kinworthy wedding
Leah Berens of Charter Oak, Iowa and Ryan Kinworthy of Seward were married June 21, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward.
The Rev. Greg Mech officiated the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Dean and Rebecca Berens of Charter Oak, Iowa, and John and Judi Kinworthy of Seward.
Music was provided by the Lincoln String Quartet, organist Charlyne Berens, aunt of the bride, and soloists Rebecca Matzke and Rachel Berens-Van Heest, cousins of the bride.
The bride wore a satin A-line gown with spaghetti straps. The V-back flowed into a cathedral-length train and was accented with pearls and sequins. The finger-tip length veil was also accented with pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses, pink bachelor buttons, mini pink carnations, purple calsinia, white calla lilies, white stephanotis and purple status.
The maid of honor was Samantha Beeck of Charter Oak, Iowa. Attendants were Nicole Theobald of Seward, Amber Hogan of Great Falls, Mont., Laura Hargis of Hastings and Jaime Berens of Winterhaven, Fla. The junior bridesmaid was Madison St. John of Hastings.
They wore one- and two-piece navy satin gowns accented with sequins.
The groom wore a black tuxedo with a silver tie and vest.
The best man was Andrew Kinworthy of Seward, brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Dan Isaac of Omaha, Paul Mech of Mequon, Wisc., Seth Hain of Madison, Wis., and Christian Berens of Winterhaven, Fla. They wore black tuxedoes with silver ties and vests.
Seating the guests were Shawn Johnson of Austin, Texas, Dustin Hogan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Tanner and Chase Hart of Clearmont, Wyo.
The flower girls were Megan and Nicole Pieczynski of Roseville, Calif., daughters of Jeff and Jodi Pieczynski. They wore white satin tank-top dresses accented with pearls and sequins.
The candlelighters were Andrew and Reggie Gustafson, both of Denison, Iowa.
The guest book was attended by Colbie Gustafson of Denison, Iowa.
The bride's personal attendant was Chelsea Gustafson of Denison, Iowa.
The reception was held at the Lincoln Station Great Hall in Lincoln. Hosts were David and Diane Berens of Hastings, Lois Mannigel of Seward and Tim Mannigel of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Assisting at the reception were aunts of the bride, Kim Gustafson and Peg Hogan, both of Denison, Iowa, and uncles of the bride, Dennis Berens of Lincoln and Joel Gustafson of Dension, Iowa.
Honored guests were grandparents of the couple, Helen Berens of Charter Oak, Iowa, Jim and Lois Hart of Charter Oak, Iowa, and Joyce Johnson of West Covina, Calif.
The couple honeymooned in Dunn's River, Jamaica, and lives in Omaha.
The groom is a software engineer at Raytheon in Bellevue, and the bride is a substitute teacher.
