Gallas celebrate golden anniversary
Marga and Walter Galla of Cedar have celebrated their golden anniversary.
The Gallas met in Fuerth, Germany, where Walter was stationed while serving in the Army.
The couple was married by an Army Chaplain in the chapel at the William O’Darby base in Fuerth on May 12, 1961.
They were then married again by a German magistrate.
Marga Galla was employed by United Technologies and the Lear Corporation for more than 30 years.
Walter Galla worked in the construction field for several years, then changed his career to upholstering.
He last worked at Rocky’s Upholstery in Centerville Township.
Both of the Gallas retired in 2002.
They are the parents of four children, all of whom reside in Cedar.
Their children are Joyce (Michael) Pleva, Larry (Carole) Galla, Sandy Galla and JoAnn (Dave) Gauthier.
The Gallas also have six grandchildren, Brian (Jenny) Pleva; Amanda, Gina and Dustin Gauthier; and Matt and Lexi Galla.
An anniversary dinner and celebration was held earlier this month at the Holiday Inn in Traverse City.
