Imogene and Eugene Bertels
Eugene and Imogene Bertels, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27 with the 11 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, followed by lunch, and a reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the church parish hall.
The day will end with a party at their home at 108 Grand Ave.
Eugene Bertels and Imogene Weishaar were married April 20, 1954, at St. Joseph Church in Nortonville.
Hosting the events will be their eight children and their spouses, Mike and Catherine Rafferty, Eskridge; Rocky and Debbie Burrous, Tallahassee, Fla.; Martha Creevan, Rossville; Mike and Carol Bertels, Oklahoma City; Phil and Eileen Bertels, Maple Hill; Alan and Carolyn Bertels, St. Marys; Jerry and Alice Bertels, St. Marys; and Dan and Susan Bertels, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The couple have 20 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Bertels retired in 1989 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after almost 40 years of service.
Mrs. Bertels retired in 1993 from the Pottawatomie-Wabaunsee Regional Library after 20 years of service.
They request no gifts.
