Mary and Charles Cozad

Charles and Mary Cozad of Topeka will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and card shower.

Charles Alan Cozad and Mary Jo Davis were married Nov. 7, 1942, in Topeka.

They have two children, Charles Cozad II, Topeka, and Jacque and Larry Hale, Lecompton.

They have two step grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Mr. Cozad owned HiPerent Products for 20 years and was a property officer for the U.S. government for 20 years.

He retired in 1978.

Mrs. Cozad retired in 1978 from Southwestern Bell as an audit clerk after 29 years of service.

(Obituary of Mary Cozad: "Mary Jo Cozad, 89 of Topeka, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born on November 2, 1919 in Topeka to Joseph and Iva (Boatright) Davis. She was a graduate from Topeka High School and attended Business College in Topeka. She married Charles Alan Cozad, Sr. on November 7, 1942 in Topeka. Mrs. Cozad was a clerk for Southwestern Bell retiring after 28 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Topeka. Survivors include her son, Charles A. Cozad, II of Topeka, daughter, Jacque Hale and husband, Larry of Lecompton, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, brother and sister. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Cozad will lie in state after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
