Thurlow and Mickey Lieurance
Thurlow and Meta "Mickey" Lieurance of Topeka will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 10, 2002 in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village, 7220 S.W. Asbury Drive.
Thurlow Lieurance and Meta Mulconery were married Nov. 8, 1942, in Wichita.
Hosts will be their children, Lynne and Dan Metz, Lincoln, and Lann Lieurance, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The couple have five grandchildren.
Mr. Lieurance retired in 1979 from management at Southwestern Bell Telephone after 34 years of service.
Mrs. Lieurance was a medical technologist.

(Obituary of Thurlow Lieurance: "THURLOW W. LIEURANCE, JR. died AT THE AGE OF 88, FEBRUARY 21, 2008, AT LINCOLN COUNTY HOSPITAL, LINCOLN, KANSAS. HE WAS BORN AUGUST 5, 1919, IN LINCOLN, NEBRASKA TO THURLOW AND EDNA WOOLEY LIEURANCE. HE WAS RAISED IN WICHITA, KS, AND GRADUATED FROM WICHITA EAST HIGH SCHOOL. HE GRADUATED FROM WICHITA UNIVERSITY AND WAS COMMISSIONED AS A 2ND LIEUTENANT IN THE U.S. ARMY INFANTRY IN JUNE, 1941. HE SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER DURING WORLD WAR II, LANDING IN NORMANDY ON D-DAY. MR. LIEURANCE WORKED FOR SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR 34 YEARS IN WICHITA, ST. LOUIS AND TOPEKA, RETIRING AS DIVISION PERSONNEL MANAGER IN 1979. HE WAS A MEMBER OF MOST PURE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH. HE WAS ACTIVE IN THE WICHITA KIWANIS TOWN CHORUS AND LATER THE GOLDEN K KIWANIS CLUB OF TOPEKA. HE WORKED WITH CEREBRAL PALSY OF TOPEKA, INC. AND THE CAPPER FOUNDATION WORK CENTER. HE SERVED AS PRESIDENT OF THE TOPEKA SYMPHONY BOARD, AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE KANSAS WOODTURNERS AND MIDWEST SAW DUSTERS CLUBS. HE MARRIED META (MICKEY) MULCONERY ON NOVEMBER 9, 1942, AND THEY WERE MARRIED FOR 63 YEARS. THEY ENJOYED THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, RV TRAVELING, VOLUNTEERING AND GOLF, UNTIL SHE PASSED AWAY JULY 24, 2005. (Obituary of Meta Lieurance: "Meta F. Mickey Lieurance, 85, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 24, at a Topeka hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Wichita, the daughter of Maurice and Meta Stewart Mulconery. At age 17, she represented the state of Kansas at an international Girl Scout Jamboree in New York, and the following year in Utah. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Wichita, and attended the University of Wichita, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She then attended the University of Kansas School of Medical Technology, where she became a registered laboratory technician. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, and upon moving to Topeka, was employed by Dr. John Crary, Dr. Walter Mau and Dr. Pete Hutton. She served as president of the Stormont Vail Medical Assistants Society, and of the Topeka Symphony Auxiliary. She served as volunteer chairman of the surgical waiting room at Stormont Vail Hospital, and as secretary of the Hospital Auxiliary Board. She married Thurlow W. Lieurance on Nov. 9, 1942, in Wichita. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Meta Lynne Metz and her husband, Dan, of Lincoln; a son, Thurlow Lann Lieurance and his fiance, Barbara Taube, Lacombe, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren, Mike, Marci and Jim Metz, and Cara and Barbara Lieurance. Mrs. Lieurance will lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
