John and Mary Jo Swoyer of Winchester will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family.
John Swoyer and Mary Jo Fullbright were married Jan. 29, 1952, in Denver with the Rev. Paul C. Ruby officiating.
Their children and their spouses are Jim and Susan Swoyer, Lawrence, and Mike and Carla Swoyer, Nebraska City, Neb.
The couple have five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The Swoyers are retired grocers, who operated a store in Highland for 19 years and a store in Nebraska City, Neb., for 23 years.

(Obituary of John Swoyer: "John M. Swoyer, 76, of Winchester, KS., died Friday, October 27 at his home in Winchester. He was born on April 27, 1930 at Oskaloosa, KS, the son of James Frederick and Hazel Ann Baker Swoyer. He was the owner and operator of Grocery Stores in Highland, KS., Nebraska City, KS., and Winchester, working for 43 years, retiring in 1998. Mr. Swoyer also served on the board of Affiliated Foods in St. Joseph, Mo., for many years. Mr. Swoyer was a 1948 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and attended the University of Kansas and Kansas State University. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1956 . He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church. He married Mary Jo Fullbright on Jan. 29, 1952, at Denver, CO., She survives of the home, Other survivors include two sons, James Martin Swoyer, Lawrence, KS., and Mike Swoyer, Topeka, KS.;one sister Marjorie Brammell, Lawrence, KS.; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, James F. Swoyer, Jr. and a sister Marian Brinson. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Winchester United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Hull Grove Cemetery, Winchester, KS. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Monday at the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, KS.
