Betty and Ray Widner
Ray and Betty Widner of Topeka will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception hosted by their children from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 4, 2001 at Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 S.E. Tecumseh Road.
Ray Widner and Betty Foust were married Nov. 2, 1951, in Arkansas City.
Their children and their spouses are Charles and Kathy Widner and David and Kathy Widner, all of Topeka.
They have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Widner is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He retired in 1985 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway after 37 years of service.
Mrs. Widner retired in 1989 from Falley's Inc. in Topeka after serving 25 years in the bakery and as office manager.
They request no gifts.

(Obituary of Betty Widner: "Betty Widner of Topeka passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at St Francis Hospital. She was born February 25, 1929, at Ralston, OK, daughter of Charles and Pauline Sholes Foust. Betty met Ray Widner in Arkansas City, KS and they were married November 2, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 6, 2009. They were longtime members of Highland Heights Christian Church in Topeka. She retired in 1989 from Falley's Inc. Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Charles and Kathy Widner, Erskine, MN and David and Kathy Widner, Berryton, KS; two brothers and their spouses, Kenneth and Lois Foust, Bill and Donna Foust all of Midwest City, OK; a sister, Charlotte Foust of Topeka; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Widner was cremated. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 4, 10:00 AM, at Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 SE Tecumseh Rd, Topeka, KS. (Obituary of Ray Widner: "Verl Ray Widner, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at a Topeka care center. He was born on December 22, 1925 in Newkirk, OK, the son of Ferlin and Lelia Puckett Widner. Ray was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe and the South Pacific. He later served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He has resided in Topeka for the past 35 years. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for over 30 years before retiring in 1987. Ray was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church, American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and Philip-Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. Ray married Betty L. Foust on November 3, 1951 in Arkansas City, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Charles (Kathy) Widner of Erskin, MN, David (Kathy) Widner of Topeka, three grandchildren, Tara, Jeffrey, Brie, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Cecil Widner, Charles Widner and two sisters, Lois Foust and Ona Proberts. Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Widner and one sister, Laura Thiess. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Heights Christian Church. Graveside inurnment services will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by Philip-Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W.
