Walt and Jerry Seedig
Walt and Geraldine "Jerry" Seedig of Topeka will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at their home, 3815 N.W. 37th Terrace.
The Seedigs were married June 30, 1951, at Hatch, N.M.
Their children are Rusty and Janice Seedig, Denver, and Rex Seedig, Albuquerque, N.M.
The couple moved to Topeka in June 1977 from Amarillo, Texas, when Santa Fe Railway transferred the Amarillo Signal Engineering Department to Topeka.
Mr. Seedig retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1989 after 42 years of service.
Mrs. Seedig retired in June 1989 as office manager at Orkin Exterminating Co. after 25 years of service.

(Obituary of Walt Seedig: "Waltermer Gus Seedig Jr., 77, Topeka, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. Walt was born May 4, 1927, in Pampa, Texas, the only child of Waltermer and Ella Seedig. He was raised and lived in rural Texas and New Mexico before joining and serving in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Breton. In 1948, Walt was employed by the Santa Fe Railway. He was a signal maintainer in New Mexico and Colorado until 1961, when he was promoted to the signal engineering office in Amarillo, Texas. He was transferred to the Topeka signal engineer office in 1977 and retired as a signal design engineer from Santa Fe in 1989. Walt married Geraldine “Jerry” Roberts on June 30, 1951, in Hatch, N.M. He is survived by Jerry; two sons, Rex, Albuquerque, N.M., and Rusty, and his wife, Janice, and grandsons, Joshua and Jason, all in Denver. Mr. Seedig was a member and past deacon of First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka. He was a Mason for 55 years and a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF& AM. He was a 24-year member of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and Arab Shrine Temple. He was a member of Arab Shrine's Sun Devil Unit, Santa Fe Golf League of Lake Shawnee, Forbes Senior Golf League, Topeka Engineers Club and Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, followed by services conducted by Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF&AM. Burial of cremains will be in La Junta, Colo., at a later date. Walt will lie in state after noon Sunday until service time Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
