Marjorie and Russell Woofter
Russell and Marjorie Woofter of rural Dover will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday.
They plan to celebrate over the weekend with their children, Carol and Alvin Crow and Jane and Jerry Patterson, and their six grandchildren and their spouses, and their 11 great-grandchildren.
The couple were married Jan. 22, 1941.
Mr. Woofter is a semi-retired farmer and stockman.
Mrs. Woofter is a homemaker.
They live near Dover.

(Obituary of Russell Woofter: "DOVER- Russell Woofter, 92, of Dover, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007. He was born may 18, 1915 in Glenville, W. Va., the son of Earl and Dora (Messenger) Woofter. Russell was a member of the Dover Federated Church and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Southern Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle most of his life. He moved to Kansas from W. Va and lived in the Dover community since 1938. He married Marjorie Rogers on Jan. 22, 1941. She preceded him in death in July, 2006. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Leola Woofter and Lena Woofter Bush, and by two brothers, Ollie and Avon Woofter. Survivors include two daughters Carol Crow (Alvin) and Arlena Jane Patterson (Jerry), all of Maple Hill; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Russell will lie in state from 2 to 7:30 pm with a family visitation from 6 to 7:30 pm this evening at the Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW. Urish Rd, Topeka, KS 66614. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at the Dover Federated Church with burial to follow in the Dover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Midland Hospice House and sent in care of the funeral home.")
(Obituary of Marjorie Woofter: "Marjorie E. Woofter, 87, went home to be with the Lord July 10, 2006. Marjorie was born April 11, 1919, in Willard KS, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Miller Rogers. She lived in the Dover area all of her life. She was a beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and wife of Russell Woofter. She is survived by the love of her life for 65 years. They were married Jan. 22, 1941. Other survivors include two daughters, Carol Crow, and her husband, Alvin, Maple Hill, and Arlena Jane Patterson, and her husband, Jerry, Topeka; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Winnie Smith; and one sister-in-law, Grace Rogers. She was loved and adored by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marjorie was a member of Dover Federated Church and Ladies Aid Club. She taught Sunday school at First Southern Baptist Church for many years and was very involved in mission work. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wed. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thurs. at Dover Federated Church, Dover KS.
