EL-GAMMAL - FIELDS
Amanda Rachel Fields and Ahmed Mahmoud El-Gammal were united in marriage on Saturday, July 7, 2007, on the lawn of the West Virginia State Capitol. The ceremony was officiated by Imam Jamal Daoudi and Revs. Melvin Hoover and Rose Edington.
The bride is the daughter of David Fields of Big Chimney, and Kathy Jayne Dougherty of Elkview.
Amanda is a 1993 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and a 2000 graduate of West Virginia University. Amanda received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2007 from WVU.
The groom is the son of Mahmoud and Nawal El-Gammal of Mississauga, Ontario. Ahmed attended New English School in Kuwait City, Kuwait, and graduated from the University of Cairo, College of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt, in 1993. Ahmed completed a residency in Internal Medicine at West Virginia University, Charleston Division/CAMC in 2005 and completed a fellowship in Infectious Dis- eases at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla., in 2007.
The bride, carrying a bouquet of coral roses, was escorted down the aisle by her father, David Fields. Serving as matron of honor was Misty Carr, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amber Joslin, cousin of the bride, and Mona El- Gammal Selim, sister of the groom. Engy Selim, niece of the groom, was flower girl.
Samer Ibrahim, cousin of the groom served as best man. Groomsmen were Ayman El- Gammal, brother of the groom, and Hamid Deliri, friend of the groom. Guests and the wedding party traveled to the reception at the Marriott Pavilion via City of Charleston Trolley. The wedding party was led into the Pavilion by the belly dancer Yasmine of Asheville, N.C., in a traditional Egyptian grand bridal party entrance or “zafaa.” Guests were entertained with music by Dave Glen, DJ, and a performance by Yasmine. The cake was created by A Piece of Cake, photography by Mike Winland Studios, videography by Premier Digital Productions, balloon decor by Brecker's Balloon Heaven, and flowers by Pam Johnston, aunt of the bride.
Ahmed and Amanda honeymooned in Oahu, Hawaii, and are celebrating their first anniversary in South Beach, Fla. The couple reside in London, Ky.
