Carrier 50th Anniversary
SUMMERVILLE — Mr. and Mrs. Steven C. Carrier of the Summerville area were married Dec. 10, 1954, in the Methodist Church.
They celebrated their 50th anniversary Dec. 18, 2005 by hosting a family dinner at the China Buffet Restaurant in DuBois.
After dinner, they were escorted around Treasure Lake and the DuBois area in a chauffeured limousine with their grandchildren.
On Dec. 19, they were given a luncheon buffet hosted by the family at the home of their son Mark in Roseville.
Ninety guests were present.
Earlier, the couple celebrated their anniversary with 70 friends from other parts of the United States at their home in Florida.
They have two sons, Mark and Eric, and five grandchildren.
He owned and managed Carrier Service station in Summerville for many years.
He later bought and managed Irvin Motor Parts in Brookville until he retired.
He also helped his wife part-time at the Carrier Insurance Agency in Summerville.
They have enjoyed camping and riding their motorcycle over a large part of the Eastern United States.

(Obituary of Joanne Carrier: "Joanne M. Carrier, 82, of Corsica, Pa., died April 5, 2017, at the Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla. Born June 10, 1934, in Corsica, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira W. and Wave Olive (McKinley) Timmis. On Dec. 10, 1954, she married her best friend Steven C. Carrier in Summerville, Pa.; he survives after 62 years of marriage by her side. Mrs. Carrier graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School. Mrs. Carrier worked as the owner of Carrier Insurance Agency in Summerville until her retirement in 1996. She attended church at the Christian Missionary Alliance in Brookville and was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Her faith was the motivation behind everything she did and has left a legacy for many to follow. Joanne enjoyed reading, doing crafts, ice cream, sewing, and spending time with her family. Anyone that spent time with her was sure to walk away with a smile, as she was a light to so many people. She was full of life and loved to laugh and enjoy the precious moments of life with those that she loved. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mark A. Carrier, and his wife Tina, of Brookville and Eric W. Carrier of Summerville; six grandchildren: Jason Carrier of Edgemoor, S.C., Sarah Crutchfield of Charlotte, N.C., Kessa Carrier of Corsica, Chelsie Carrier of Brookville, Chandra Carrier of Brookville, and Brynden Carrier of Brookville; and five great-grandchildren: Hayden and Hudson Carrier of Edgemoor, S.C., and Emily, Katy, and Matthew Crutchfield II of Charlotte, N.C. Friends and family will be received on Monday, April 10, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Furlong Funeral Home, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville, Pa. Due to the unexpected death of her son, Mark, funeral services were postponed. The visitation will go on as planned on Monday, April 10, 2005. A combined funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville. Interment will be in the Carrier Cemetery in Summerville, Clover Twp., Jefferson County.")
