Trayer 60th Anniversary
NORTH FREEDOM — Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trayer of North Freedom celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 21, 2004, at the Hawthorn Firehall.
The anniversary dinner was hosted by the couple’s family.
Clyde Trayer and Ruth Reed were married Nov. 28, 1944, in the Baptist parsonage in Brookville.
She is the daughter of Charles and Mary Reed.
He is the son of Einsel and Lilly Trayer.
He worked at many things over the years, from running a crosscut saw in the woods to retiring from the dairy farm business in 1982.
She worked at Sylvania in Brookville from 1952 to 1962, and also helped run the farm.
They have six children: Gene of Erie, Betty, Steve, Mark and Rick of North Freedom; and Kathy of Strawberry Plains, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

(Obituary of Clyde Trayer: "Clyde Eugene Trayer, age 96, of North Freedom, PA, passed away at the Punxsutawney Hospital on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Clyde was born on March 23, 1920, to the late Einsel S. and Lillian (Silvis) Trayer, in Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. On November 28, 1944, he married Ruth Edith (Reed) Trayer in the parsonage of the Brookville Baptist Church; at the time, it was Rev. Samuel Stewart who officiated. They were together in marriage for 68 years before her passing on April 2, 2013. In his early days, he worked on Cable Tool Gas Rigs. He also spent time as a woodman, drove school bus and coal truck, and for most of his life, he was a dairy farmer. He spent time honorably serving his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Clyde also loved hunting for deer. After his retirement from farming he enjoyed traveling with his son to many different places. He simply loved being outdoors and as his life moved forward and his mobility became more limited, he would position himself so that he could look out the windows all day. Clyde was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived: by 2 daughters, Betty (Harold) Bish of Mayport, PA and Kathy (Dave) Sunderland of Strawberry Plains, TN; 4 sons, Eugene (Shirley) Trayer of Erie, PA, Stephen (Kathy) Trayer of Mayport, PA, Mark (Mary) Trayer of Mayport, PA and Richard (Crystal) Trayer of Mayport, PA; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Clyde is preceded in death by: 2 brothers, Wilbert Trayer and Parnell Trayer; 3 sisters, Margaret Emings, Marie Beer and Betty Trayer. Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 am and officiated by Assistant Pastor Roger Hilliard. Interment will take place at the Mount Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Military honors will complement the funeral services.")
(Obituary of Ruth Trayer: "Ruth Edith (Reed) Trayer, 86, of North Freedom, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Ruth was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Brookville, a daughter of Charles Elias Reed and Mary Dora Haines Reed. On Nov. 28, 1944, in Brookville, she married Clyde E. Trayer, who survives. Ruth worked as a tester at Sylvania in Brookville and as a homemaker and farmed with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the North Freedom United Methodist Church and the Freedom Grange No. 2073 in Ringgold. In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by four sons and two daughters, Eugene Trayer (Shirley) of Erie, Pa., Betty Bish (Harold) of Mayport, Pa., Kathy Sunderland (Dave) of Strawberry Plains, Tenn., Stephen Trayer (Kathy) of Mayport, Mark Trayer (Mary) of Mayport, and Richard Trayer (Crystal) of Mayport; four sisters and four brothers, Beulah Dudley of Ohio, Harry Reed of Brookville, John Reed of Brookville, Hazel Charlton of Erie, Marie Ashforth of Richmond Heights, Ohio, Kenneth Reed of Brookville, Martha Bates of Ohio, and Charles Reed of Reynoldsville; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Jane Reed; and four brothers, James Eugene, William, Robert, and Alton Reed. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Friends and family should note that Ruth's husband, Clyde, will be available to receive friends only during the 2 to 4 p.m. visitation period. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Ken Duffee. Interment will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Eldred Township.
